Sunday Music Matinee: Roy Connors: Highwaymen Hootenany In-Person
The 1960's folk music group "The Highwaymen" had several songs at the top of the charts; Michael, Row the Boat Ashore, In them Old Cotton Fields Back Home, Gypsy Rover, and Whiskey in the Jar. Come reminisce with Hootenanny with a Highwayman, an hour-long sing-along featuring the songs of '60's folk groups. You'll remember the groups, the songs, and the lyrics!
Roy Connors and Alan Scharf began their music careers in the early 1960’s, in the heart of Greenwich Village, when the folk music revival was in its infancy. At that time, groups like the Highwaymen; the Kingston Trio; and Peter, Paul & Mary were leading the charge. Although Roy and Alan were not members of the original Highwaymen, they were tapped to continue the Highwaymen legacy by touring the United States, appearing in colleges, universities, and clubs all across the country
