Connie Regan-Blake - A Story Central Performance In-Person

A Legend in Overalls: Storytelling in the Footsteps of Ray Hicks

Connie Regan-Blake shares stories of a national treasure, the late great traditional Appalachian storyteller Ray Hicks. Bearing old-world gifts, Hicks enriched modern lives beyond measure and became not only the face of mountain storytelling, but also Connie’s mentor and “family of the heart.”

More than four decades ago, master storyteller Connie Regan-Blake was one of the first to bring storytelling to the national stage. She has been honored with three major awards from the National Storytelling Network, including the Lifetime Achievement Award for dedicating her life to raising public awareness of storytelling, preserving traditional art forms, and for the originality of her life’s work.
