Mozart’s String Quartets In-Person

Mozart wrote his famous opera The Marriage of Figaro in six weeks, but he worked for three years on his string quartets. They are among his richest and most mature music. Inspired by Haydn’s Opus 33 quartets, he dedicated them to his great friend. When Haydn first heard them, he said to Mozart’s father, “I tell you before God and as an honest man, your son is the greatest composer known to me by person or repute: he has taste, and what is more, the greatest skill in composition.” Come explore why for yourself.
