Story Central: A Visit with Oney Judge (A Chautauqua Event)

Story Central: A Visit with Oney Judge (A Chautauqua Event) In-Person

Celebrating Presidents’ Day and Black History Month, this special event invites the audience to "meet" Oney Judge, the personal slave of First Lady Martha Washington from the time George was elected to attend the Continental Congress until the end of his second term. We hear Oney as a free woman, talking about her experience at the White House, her upbringing, her run for freedom, and more.

Sheila Arnold’s performances have wowed audiences in over a dozen states. She has been honored with the National Storytelling Network’s Distinguished Service Award, and as a MacDowell Artist Fellow, a Mount Vernon Research Fellow, and a Hewnoaks Artist Colony summer residence Noted Artist.
